Description of Training Programs:

  1. Trailer Loading:   Cost: $250
Horse will safely and calmly self load, and unload, from the trailer. Training is not considered complete unless owner can also load and unload horse safely and calmly.

  2. Problem Solving:   Cost: $350
Some problems can be resolved in a single session though many problems may take longer. These personal sessions are geared toward the simpler problems or to set you and your horse on the right track for the more complicated problems.

  3. Problem Solving:   Cost and duration is dependent on the problem
This is a much more extensive program designed for a horse already under saddle that is having a specific problem which will be thoroughly evaluated and addressed.

Suggested Training Programs:
(these can be tailored to your needs)

  1. Ground Manners:  Two weeks
This program includes everything up to getting on a horse.
Respect space - horse will respect your space, not run into you, over you or bump you, he will move away from pressure and will turn to look at you when you enter his stall.
Leading - horse will lead calmly and politely on a loose lead line.
Ground tie - horse will have the beginnings of ground tying - you will be able to walk away from your horse and he will stay where placed.
Picking up feet - horse will pick up each foot upon request.
Bridling - Horse will calmly accept the bridle or the halter from a comfortable position for the rider.

  2. One Week Unbroke: *
This is a program to properly teach your horse to walk, trot, stand for mounting (in a round pen). This program is geared to the person that prefers to finish the training themselves once the horse has been started.

  3. Four Week Unbroke: *
This program provides a solid foundation for unbroke horses of all breeds and all disciplines. Time will be spent training in a round pen, arena, and on the trail. On completion, your horse will be broke to ride, and:
    • Have Forward movement
    • Stand for tacking and mounting
    • Lead politely
    • Trailer load
    • Be taught two important safety cues: The one-rein stop and the "calm down" cue
    Also addressed are:
    • Softness and responsiveness to the bit
    • Patience
    • Head shyness
    • Dealing with fear

  4. Two-week Intermediate Program:
This program is a follow-up to the four-week unbroke program or for a horse already under saddle who can walk, trot and canter, safely and willingly. Your horse will be taught to be soft and responsive to the bit, have lateral movement, rein-back and be introduced to leg pressure. Your horse will have better turns, softer stops, and the beginnings of turns on the haunches and forehand, leg yielding and side passing.
*An unbroke horse is a horse that has never been ridden or saddled, or cannot be ridden safely for at least ten minutes.
